Abstract Salmonella utilizes translocated virulence proteins (termed effectors) to promote host cell invasion. The effector SopD contributes invasion by promoting scission of the plasma membrane, generating -containing vacuoles. is expressed in all lineages and plays important roles animal models infection, but its targets are unknown. Here we show that can bind inhibit small GTPase Rab10, through a C-terminal activating protein (GAP) domain. During Rab10 effectors MICAL-L1 EHBP1 recruited sites.
